College of Direct Support
CCPA is working to help you access convenient training for your agency at a significantly reduced cost by offering you participation in the College of Direct Support (CDS) e-learning program under CCPA’s administrative fee. CDS is the
e-learning program endorsed by the Connecticut Department of Developmental Services (DDS). Once you sign on, all of your staff, board members, family members and others associated with your agency will have unlimited access to the online training courses offered in the system. Click here to view the CDS website.
If you were to sign up as your own administrator, you would be responsible to pay a $2800 administrator fee. Our goal is to help you to get the benefits of the program at a greatly reduced rate, and we don’t want you to miss out on this opportunity.
As administrator, CCPA will be responsible to:
- provide the roll-out for the College of Direct Support at a site-wide level
- assign privileges for sub-administrators
- provide technical assistance to those that have contracted for access to the site
Interested agencies will have access to the system as sub-administrators which will enable them to:
- enroll staff
- assign courses
- access and run reports
These fees are based on the size of the staff at participating agencies.

Essential Learning
If your organization is like most, you are looking for ways to maximize your training dollar and expand educational opportunities for your staff. As of July 2007, CCPA has partnered with Essential Learning to offer online courses on its new e-learning page.
E-Learning offers a convenient and cost-effective option for continuing education, career development and staff training. Through a partnership with Essential Learning, CCPA offers individual online courses as well as comprehensive web-based Organizational Learning Management System customized to an organization’s needs. Both options will allow you to earn continuing education credits and stay on the forefront of industry best practices.
Individual E-Learning Courses-
These courses offer concise, comprehensive and relevant information that will help participants improve clinical competence, acquire new skills and learn about current research. All courses are offered online, so you can take them from anywhere you have Internet access, at any time and complete them at your own pace. You can select courses from a comprehensive library with new courses added each month. Select a course, read or listen to the course materials, complete the online exercises and then take your test! As soon as you pass the test with a score of 80% or higher you will be able to print your credit certificate. CEUs for course completion are available from many accreditation bodies.
Courses are available on a pay-as-you-go basis. Staff of CCPA member organizations receive a 10% discount on all courses. For your discount code, please email kmaigarie@ccpa-inc.org or call 860-257-7909.
Learning Management System-
Organizations can subscribe to Essential Learning’s Organizational Learning Management System, which supports a customized blended training approach using classroom-based, community-based, and online educational programs. The custom course package is available to multiple employees through a customized site and can be created from an extensive library of accredited courses to meet regulatory and clinical training needs. Courses can be customized to meet organizational needs and a new course is added to the library each month. This learning management system includes automated tracking and reporting on training and licensing requirements and many more convenient features. It is cost-effective and easy to use. It is designed to help organizations stay compliant with training mandates and reduce overall training costs while expanding educational opportunities for staff. The Learning Management System helps to maximize efficiencies and deliver quality client care.
CCPA members can subscribe to the Learning Management System at a 10% discount. Members of the National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare (NCCBH), get an additional 5% discount, for a total of 15% off the Learning Management System!
